EDINBURGH'S GOT TALENT LAUNCH AT THE RAT RACE PDF Print
Monday, 21 July 2008

ImageScotland internationals Chris Paterson, David Callam and Ben Cairns took centre stage on Saturday 19 July on the band-stand in Princes Street Gardens as they helped all the competitors for the 2008 Rat Race warm up for the main event.

As part of the official launch of Edinburgh’s Got Talent where members of the squad exhibit other sporting skills while searching for the Scottish capital’s fittest person, 20 players took part in promoting the event in the heart of Auld Reekie.

Over 50 sports enthusiasts took part at Edinburgh’s ‘fitness station’ beside the main stage where they had to do press-ups, burpee’s, star jumps and tuck-jumps as quickly as possible.

Some participants struggled while others flourished like Kate Ives, from Edinburgh who did the exercises in 1 minute 6 seconds, and Samuel Armstrong, a Kenyan rugby player, finished in 1 minute 20 seconds.

Linda Gordon, Edinburgh’s Sales and Community Manager, said: “It was a great day, apart from the rain at the end. There were people from all over the world that took part, there was a Frenchman, some boys from Barbados and the rugby player from Kenya.

“Everyone had a lot of fun and it was entertaining to see who was the fittest.”
