Houston said: “I think it is really great to encourage kids to read. I read a lot when I was a kid. “It broadens your horizons to learn about other people’s lives and events. It works your imagination because even though you’re reading it, you can create the characters in your mind. “One book that really stands out is the Power of One; it inspired me a lot. Edinburgh players John Houston and Steven Turnbull read excerpts from their favourite books to local children as part of Team Read – a UK wide initiative which encourages children into libraries to take part in a six book challenge across the summer.
