Scotland Universities face the Combined Services U23 at Lasswade RFC this Friday in the final match of the Four Nations tournament.
Both sides are keen to get the win as Scotland come to the match following last week’s 42-0 home defeat to a powerful and pacy England Uni, while the Combined Services U23 have lost their last two matches to Wales and Ireland.
Scotland Uni Coach, Chris Reekie, expects a tough test from the Servicemen: “They’ll be a far more physical side, though they don’t have England’s pace.
“I imagine they’ll play a much more forward orientated game and we’ll look to use our pace in the backs to more effect once we’ve moved them about a bit.
“Playing a team of England’s quality should have made the guys realise that you need to create points from pressure.”
Combined Services coach, Jamie Balls, said: “We’re fielding a full strength side so I think we’ll see some good University rugby.
“We’ll take on Scotland up front and see how they deal with it. It’ll be a crashing game up front and when the ball’s won we’ll play it into space.”
Scottish Universities v Combined Services U23 kicks off at 7:30pm at Lasswade, Bonnyrigg, Midlothian.
