2nd November 2007 Mr Geoff Cross On behalf of everyone at Barnardo’s Caern project I would like to thank you for very kindly attending the official opening of the project last week. I know how busy your schedule must be and that you must receive many requests so we appreciate all the more the time you gave. I do apologise for the delay in writing to you but I’d been struck down with a bug that is rampaging through our office at the moment. I understand my colleague, Diane Lindsay, has forwarded photos to Linda Gordon of the SRU for the website and I’ve asked our photographers to print a memento photograph that we can send to you. The staff and children were delighted that you could attend and I do hope that you enjoyed the evening and found the work of interest. Diane has said you would always be most welcome to visit again should you wish to see how the project is progressing in its new building. Barnardo’s supports over 13,000 children and young people in Scotland through 60 community based projects, some of which work with children with disabilities like Caern. Support from high profile individuals such as yourself really help Barnardo’s with its work and aims – acting as a great morale booster for the children, helping raise awareness of the issues and disadvantages they face and the charities campaigning to give them a better future and, of course, helping to raise funds through support /attendance at fundraising events. We would certainly welcome your support in the future and hope that we might approach in the future. I have enclosed a copy of the summer issue of our VIP! support newsletter showing how people like yourself have helped the charity. Do please feel free to contact me should you wish for further information or have any queries.
