Seventeen players have today been named in the Scotland A squad to prepare for the game against Irish Wolfhounds at Netherdale, Galashiels on Friday 28 January (kick-off 7.30pm, admission FREE).
Some players from the Scotland RBS 6 Nations Championship squad will also be part of the Scotland A team. An announcement on players who will join up with the A squad will be made early next week.
Scotland A head coach Nick Scrivener today expressed his excitement ahead of a Netherdale double-header that will also see Italy A visit Gala (Friday 4 February, kick-off 7.30pm, admission FREE).
Scrivener’s side won the first of this season’s trio of fixtures at the ground back in November, beating USA Eagles 25-0.
The Edinburgh assistant said: “We’re really looking forward to these games. They offer a great opportunity for our guys to come together, front up, and beat quality opposition for their country.
“We put on a decent performance against the USA, but know we’ll need to be better and sharper in all the key areas when the Irish and Italians arrive.
“With admission again being free, we’re hoping for another couple of big crowds at these games to continue the fantastic support the A team have received in the Borders over the last two seasons.”
The Scotland A captain’s run on the eve of the Irish Wolfhounds match will be open to the public. It will take place at Netherdale on Thursday 27 January from 4pm.
