Four Edinburgh players have been honoured in the club’s annual awards, with an exciting mix of established and emerging talents among the recipients.
Tim Visser was named Player of the Season after another outstanding campaign that saw him break the record for the most individual tries in a Magners League season and be named in the competition’s Dream Team for the second successive year.
Lee Jones took the Young Player of the Season award for an impressive debut year on and off the field, during which he has established himself as a regular member of the side, scored tries in both the Magners League and Heineken Cup, played for Scotland 7s at the Commonwealth Games and broken into the Scotland A set-up, securing a brace of scores on his debut against USA Eagles.
Newcomer of the Season went to James King, a powerfully consistent member of the Edinburgh midfield mix since stepping up from the club game last summer.
Visser, Jones and King have all recently signed contract extensions that will see them spend the prime years of their respective careers in the Scottish capital.

Another fans’ favourite, Greig Laidlaw, scooped the Players’ Player of the Season gong. The Jed man has brought industry and inventiveness to both the scrum-half and stand-off positions throughout the year, and has captained both Edinburgh and Scotland A.
Laidlaw won his debut Scotland cap against New Zealand last November, and was yesterday named in the provisional squad for the Rugby World Cup this autumn.
Nine other Edinburgh players (Mike Blair, Ben Cairns, Nick De Luca, Chris Paterson, Geoff Cross, David Denton, Ross Ford, Allan Jacobsen and Ross Rennie) were named in the 40-man squad.
The final 30-man party will be named following Scotland’s EMC Tests against Ireland and Italy at Murrayfield on Saturday 6 August and Saturday 20 August respectively.
