It’s been an exceptional debut season for Edinburgh’s flying winger Tim Visser who today has been named in the Magners League dream team for the past season.

Visser, who only joined Edinburgh a year ago, has excited crowds this season with power and pace en route to becoming the league’s top try scorer with a thumping ten touchdowns.

Visser told Black and Red Radio: “It’s good to be recognised for playing well. I’m very happy with my debut season and how it’s gone as a whole. It’s (the Magners League dream-team) a star-studded team and it’s an honour to creep into it.

“I’ve done a lot better than I thought I’d do. I got a lot more chances and really got to play the way I wanted to play. I want to improve on all aspects of my wing play but I’m still learning and working very closely with Rob Moffat and Nick Scrivener to improve. But for a first season I can’t complain,” he said.

The Dutch winger has used his physique to go through opposition but also has the pace to get around them as well, something he feels is very advantageous.

“It’s a big advantage being my size and still having that pace. It’s definitely helped me with some tries during the season. I started getting marked a lot heavier but changed things and started scoring tries again at the end of the season.”

For Visser who turns 23 tomorrow (Saturday) the announcement of the Magners League dream team was an early birthday present.
