English aristocrats, Harlequins will provide the opposition for a warm-up match on Saturday 22 August, kick off 3pm at Myreside (for directions please click here) as Scotland’s number one team, Edinburgh start the 2009/10 season. During the world famous Festival, the best show on offer in Edinburgh will be at the home of Watsonians as the team that finished second in the Magners League takes on the Guinness Premiership’s runners up in a game with all the ingredients of a Calcutta Cup classic. Harlequins boast a constellation of stars, including Lions wing Ugo Monye and England internationalists David Strettle (pictured), Nick Easter and Danny Care while Edinburgh are expected to field points machine Chris Paterson plus summer signings, Ross Samson, Steve Jones, Davie Young and Tim Visser. It promises to be the perfect curtain raiser to what should be another adrenaline-charged season for Edinburgh, so make sure you come along (Season Ticket Holders gain free admission).
