HAMILTON CELEBRATES NEW EDINBURGH DEAL PDF Print
Thursday, 18 June 2009

Scotland ‘A’ lock Craig Hamilton admits he is aiming to toast a double celebration following the match against France ‘A’ in Bucharest on Sunday (21 June, kick off 6pm BST); securing a new two year deal with Edinburgh and winning the IRB Nations Cup.

The towering second row, who measures in at 6ft 8”, was a virtual ever present in Edinburgh’s engine room as the team finished as runner’s up in the Magners League.

Now he has supplemented that achievement by impressing for Scotland ‘A’ during the wins over Russia and Uruguay. You can watch Craig and fellow giant, namesake Jim, in Edinburgh’s engine room next season at a great value price (just £30 for Junior Season Tickets). Call 0131 346 5180 to reserve your place and become part of a record breaking team.

As a result, he has been rewarded with a contract that will keep him in the Capital until 2011 and the Stranraer-born forward believes his best season is still yet to come.

Hamilton said: “I’m really happy with the way everything has gone over the past 12 months – both with Edinburgh and now Scotland ‘A’ – but I realise there is still plenty of room for improvement.

“With the France ‘A’ game coming up at the weekend, everyone in the squad is determined to finish on a high and continue the winning habit, although we know it will be a tough test.

“I feel I’m playing a lot better than I have ever done before and hopefully there is a lot more to come.”

Citing the example of England lock Simon Shaw, currently touring with the British and Irish Lions at the advanced age of 37, Hamilton believes he can fulfill his potential over the next couple of seasons.

He added: “A lot of second rows don’t really hit their peak until later on in their careers. Simon Shaw has done really well and to get onto a Lions tour at 37 is an incredible achievement.

“I’m really happy to stay with Edinburgh for another two years. The way we finished the season, with six straight wins, was great.

“Full credit to the coaches and players because we stuck together and ploughed on through until the end.”

Hamilton has shown his commitment for the 2009/2010 campaign and now Edinburgh supporters are being encouraged to follow suit by signing up for a great value Season Ticket package.
