David Blair admits he is really excited ahead of his first ever IRB Nations Cup start against Uruguay on Tuesday (kick off 4pm local time, live on Setanta Sports 1) and revealed he has been swapping tour stories with his brother, Lions scrum-half Mike. While Mike has been representing the British and Irish Lions in South Africa, 23-year-old David, nicknamed Razor, has been busy acclimatising to the intense Romanian heat with Scotland ‘A’. After featuring as a replacement during the 49-7 opening day win over Russia, Blair has been handed the number 10 jersey for the match against the South Americans and he says he cannot wait to make an impact. Remember David and his older sibling Mike are both on board for next season representing their hometown team, Edinburgh as the Black and Red Army march onward towards Celtic and European glory. Blair said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be starting and I’m looking forward to the game. “I’ve been out here for about a week now and, having watched the guys play against Russia, I’m looking to show what I can do in order to challenge for a place in the final game. “I speak to Mike most nights on Skype and we tell each other about how our tours are going, so we’ll be chatting again soon. “Andy (Robinson) has said this is a chance for the guys to really put their hand up and show that they want to be playing at Test level. “For me, at the moment, I just want to start and show what I can do. I haven’t had many starts so far this season and I’ll be looking forward to it.” Blair is one of eight Edinburgh players in the starting line-up with John Houston deservedly winning his first cap at Scotland ‘A’ level.
