Front row questions: First club you ever played for? Stockton Rugby Club near Middlesbrough; I started playing for them when I was seve. Front row questions: First position you ever played in? Stand-off. I moved to full-back when I was about 11 or 12 when my coach at the time thought I would be best suited to full-back. I don’t know whether he wanted me out of the way! First time you thought you would play professional rugby? I have always really loved playing rugby since I was seven and I started playing representative rugby for Durham. Then I was taken on by Newcastle Falcons Academy when I was 17, so that was the time when I realised it could happen. Second row questions: Most memorable try? The first try I scored for Newcastle was pretty big. That was last year against Newport Gwent Dragons. Second row questions: Most difficult opponent? I played against Brian O’Driscoll when I was at the Borders. Although he didn’t have his best game that day, his reputation speaks for itself and he is an awesome player. Back row questions: Greatest ever achievement? Becoming a professional rugby player is a massive achievement and I’m chuffed that I’ve achieved that. Playing for Scotland ‘A’ was a pretty big honour as well – hopefully that will be start towards bigger things. Back row questions: Greatest ever holiday? I haven’t been to too many exotic places, but I really enjoyed the Churchill Cup in Canada when we had some free time on the tour. Back row questions: Greatest ever film seen? Recently I went to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine which is pretty special Half-back questions: Last CD you bought or downloaded? Coldplay Half-back questions: Favourite ever CD? Michael Jackson’s Greatest Hits Midfield questions: Best stadium you have ever played in? Murrayfield Midfield questions: Best aspect about living in Edinburgh? I have lived in Edinburgh before and the two aspects that really stood out were the Festival and Hogmanay. Both events were pretty special. Back three questions: Biggest influence on your career so far? My fiancée Natalie because four years ago I almost decided to quit rugby, but she convinced me to continue playing. Back three questions: Main hobby away from rugby? I’m studying for a Masters in surveying and I also like playing the guitar, although I’m not any good. Back three questions: Worst dressed player at Edinburgh? At the moment I couldn’t say to be honest, but I’ll go for Nick De Luca just for a bit of banter. |
