David Blair says he is feeling more up-to-speed with regards to orchestrating play from Edinburgh’s number 10 jersey after his man-of-the-match performance against Scarlets on Friday after a nine-month absence.
With Scotland stand-off Phil Godman rested for the trip to west Wales, Blair was handed the responsibility and he responded with a memorable performance – scoring an early drop-goal and creating the decisive try scored by Craig Hamilton.
Now heading into a huge month of rugby, the 24-year-old believes he is better equipped to make an impact in Edinburgh’s back division off the back of that outing.

Blair said: “It was my first start for nine months and what had helped me over the past month or so was playing a couple of games for Gael Force and playing for Currie and the Barbarians as well.
“For the first time since I probably joined Edinburgh I’ve played five or six full games in a row. So although I felt I made a few mistakes in the game I felt I went into the game feeling less rusty than I would have done.
“It was about getting a feel for it and, as the game went on, I started feeling more match fit.
“I’ve had a few injuries this year which have stopped me from training and playing. So I’m starting to get going this season. It would be nice to be involved in the next few games, but I know that Phil (Godman) is a great player and that it will be a challenge.”
