Edinburgh were on the receiving end of a heavy defeat at the RDS as champions Leinster put 52 points past them in a painful night in Dublin.

In the second half, replacement hooker John Fogarty scored two tries with Shane Jennings and Chris Keane also dotting down as Edinburgh drowned in a sea of blue pressure.

Felipe Contepomi has continued to be the chief architect behind Edinburgh's downfall; contributing 22 points with his boot.

It was a forgettable night for Edinburgh and the heaviest defeat endured during the Andy Robinson regime, although at times Edinburgh attacked with real purpose.

In fact Godman had handed Edinburgh an early three point lead at the RDS with Paterson also scoring three points, but Leinster  pulled away with two first half tries from Luke Fitzgerald.

A couple of ill-judged decisions and basic mistakes have been exploited by the current Magners League champions, although the margin between the two teams should not be as big as 14 points heading into the half-time interval.

Following last week's sluggish opening against Munster, Edinburgh reacted superbly to begin with and put Leinster under a huge amount of concerted pressure - leaving the 17,000 RDS crowd virtually silent.

But a couple of handling errors aligned with some refereeing decisions against Edinburgh, allowed Leinster to seize control of the game.

A late piece of team news, Kyle Traynor replaces Gavin Kerr amongst the replacements, although there are still 10 Scotland internationalists in the starting line-up.
