Born in Zeewolde, Netherlands, Tim Visser has been a huge hit since becoming former head coach Andy Robinson's only non-Scottish signing in May 2009. Nicknamed the 'Flying Dutchman', Visser enjoyed a sensational start to his Edinburgh career, racking up 50 points in his first Magners League campaign.

A powerful winger, Dutchman Visser originally caught the eye of Newcastle's scouting network while performing at the Amsterdam 7s circuit.

Visser, the only professional rugby player from the Netherlands, joined Newcastle's Academy and marked his debut for the Falcons in September 2006 by scoring the winning try against Worcester Warriors.

He went onto gain further experience during a loan spell with Northampton Saints before deciding to move north of the border.

A talented finisher, Visser is a previous winner of the Middlesex Sevens and has featured in countless sevens tournaments across Britain.

Visser’s father, Marc, played 67 times for Holland’s national team and captained the side for 15 years while his younger brother, Sep, a full-back/centre, is a member of Newcastle’s Academy.

Visser has settled quickly into Scottish life and lives in South Queensferry. He lists walking his dog as one of his favourite pastimes and has declared a wish to represent Scotland as and when he qualifies through residency.
