David William Blair signed for Edinburgh from the National Academy in December 2007 after impressing during a sequence of starts at first team level. Linking up in a half-back combination with his elder brother, Mike, Blair made his Edinburgh debut at stand-off during the 14-14 Magners League draw at Connacht in October 2007. Assuming charge of goalkicking duties, Blair scored four points and proceeded to score 11 more in the 19-16 loss at Munster. Blair went on to record his Heineken Cup debut against Toulouse in November 2007 and made 11 first team appearances in the Black and Red during his first season. At the end of that campaign, Blair was in the Scotland A squad who visited North America for the Barclays Churchill Cup. He played in the two wins there, as a replacement against Canada in Ottawa and as starting stand-off against Argentina in Kingston, Ontario. Blair joined Sale Sharks as an academy player after leaving Edinburgh Academy in 2003 and joined their senior squad in 2006. He made his debut for the Guinness Premiership side in 2004 off the bench against Leicester Tigers and made his first start against Gloucester in 2007. He is only the player to score 100 points for Scotland in under-21 internationals, a target he achieved with his second penalty against Italy in Benevento in March 2006. His record extended to 135 points three months later in the IRB Under 21 World Championship in France where he captained the side. A talented tennis and table tennis player, Blair is an all-round sportsman who also played a prominent role in ensuring Edinburgh Academicals staved off the threat of relegation from the Scottish Hydro Electric Premiership during the 2007/2008 season. Blair started against Uruguay for Scotland 'A' during the 2009 IRB Nations Cup in Bucharest and scored 12 points to help the team record a win en route to lifting the trophy. He returned to Romania in June 2010 to represent Scotland 'A' in the same competition. | Player Statistics 2010-11 Season | | Games | | Tries | | | Started | | Conversion | | | Substitutions | | Penalty Goals | | | Points | | Drop Goals | |
