ASSOCIATE CLUBS: FIFE SOUTHERN PDF Print
Friday, 26 September 2008

ImageEdinburgh chief executive Nic Cartwright, Scotland internationalist Dave Callam and Scotland A prop Ryan Grant presented a framed jersey to Fife Southern Rugby Club to mark their status as an associate club.

Edinburgh are really proud of their thriving community scheme and burgeoning relationships with clubs in the east of Scotland.

Fife Southern was formed in 1999, when two local clubs, Dalgety Bay RFC and Rosyth & District RFC amalgamated. This amalgamation was very successful and saw ‘The Sharks’ promoted to the national league in its first year.

Fife born prop Grant handed over the jersey in front of a sizeable crowd at the clubhouse in Rosyth; much to the delight of Cartwright.

Cartwright said: “Over the past year, we have established some great relationships with Rugby Clubs across our region and beyond.  We continue to work hard to deliver benefits for both parties.  The shirt presentations we are making to our Associate Clubs help us to show our commitment to working with clubs and to achieving success together.

“We have had a good number of clubs take part on our match days to date, and there will be even more when we face Leinster in our first Heineken Cup game on 11 October.  We have just announced that every adult purchase gets up to four free kids tickets when bought in advance, and we are aware of a good number of supporters already buying.”
