Scotland scrum half Mike Blair has recovered from a throat infection and has been included amongst Edinburgh’s replacements for Friday’s Magners League match against Connacht at Murrayfield (11 September, kick off 7.30pm). Click here to watch Mike talking about the Connacht match on Edinburgh Rugby TV.

The 28-year-old missed the opening two days’ training of the week through illness, but was deemed fit enough to participate in Edinburgh’s first home match of the season by the club’s medical staff.

It could potentially be his first taste of competitive action since featuring for the British and Irish Lions against the Southern Kings in Port Elizabeth in June. Come and welcome YOUR heroes back to Murrayfield on Friday night (call 0131 346 5180 to reserve your place in the West Stand).

Click below to watch our Ross Ford, new head coach Rob Moffat, captain Mike Blair, Phil Godman, Chris Paterson and Allister Hogg talk about the forthcoming challenge posed by Connacht.

Head coach Rob Moffat welcomed the news and believes his captain will be eager to resume first team duties.

Moffat said: “It is great to see Mike back involved again. We’re looking forward to seeing him back playing for Edinburgh after his experience with the Lions.”
