Edinburgh Rugby is a club steeped in history. It has been fielding a rugby side featuring the cream of Scottish rugby talent for more than 140 years, and represents the Lothians, Borders, Tayside and Fife in the Guinness PRO12 and European Cup from our home at BT Murrayfield Stadium.

The Pro12 (sponsored by Guinness) is an annual rugby union competition involving professional sides from Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales.The league is one of the three major professional leagues in Europe, along with the English Premiership and the French Top 14.

In 2009, a play-off structure was introduced meaning the top-four teams at the end of the regular season go into a play-off (1st v 4th and 2nd v 3rd) and Grand Final.

Edinburgh Rugby's best finish, to date, is second, in 2009.

In 2015 scrum half Sam Hidlago-Clyne was awarded Guinness PRO12 Young Player of the Year and prop WP Nel named in the Guinness PRO12 Dream Team.

European Cup

Two tiers of European Cup rugby showcase the best of the northern hemisphere. Organised by European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) the European Rugby Champions Cup and European Rugby Challenge Cup feature the leading club, regional and provincial teams from the six World Rugby countries in Europe, whose national teams compete in the RBS 6 Nations championship: England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales.

The tournaments are held from November to May, with various stages scheduled around domestic club competitions.

Edinburgh Rugby reached the quarter-finals of the top tier, European Champions Cup, competition in 2004 and semi-final in 2012; and the Final of the European Challenge Cup in 2015 [below] at Twickenham Stoop.
